The User story

My Situation

Over the last several years, my relationship with technology has changed significantly. Instead of being tied to a single, company-issued PC, my work activities extend to my smartphone, a tablet device, and even my own personal computer. The lines between my work and personal lives are now blurred.

While I find the technology revolution that is under way to be very exciting and liberating, it is clearly turning my company’s IT management and security practices upside down. I wonder whether our IT department understands that the old rules no longer apply. So much of the technology I use every day falls outside of ‘official’ IT policies that I am left to wonder what, if any, help I’ll get from IT if I ever have a problem.

The Solution

I view user virtualization as a game-changer, since it will shift my IT department’s focus away from devices to where it belongs: on me and colleagues like me. I don’t mind playing by the rules, if the rules are flexible to give me the freedom I need to be productive and competitive. User virtualization has the potential to strike better balance between what is right for the company and what is most convenient for me.

If user virtualization gives my IT department the tools to offer me a personalized, well-supported, and secure computing experience without creating barriers to my productivity and flexibility, it sounds like a winning proposition to me!

Striking the perfect balance

User virtualization brings what is right for the company and what is most convenient for me into balance.  IT will no longer spend time creating new restrictive rules to prohibit me from accessing corporate information from my own devices or from outside of the company network. Instead, they can deliver a set of IT services that will help me to work harder and longer.

If user virtualization gives my IT department the tools to offer me a personalized, well-supported, and secure computing experience without creating barriers to my productivity and flexibility, it sounds like a winning proposition to me!
