AppSense Cloud-Computing Infrastructure (ACCI)
As organizations look to optimize the use of their IT services, desktops are fast becoming a target for conversion from a distributed collection of high-cost, low-agility, unique machines, to an on-demand service. That on-demand service can come in many forms, but what is essential is that the service must reduce desktop management costs through economies of scale, increase business agility for the organization and ensure full user adoption through a seamless – in fact improved – user experience.
The AppSense Cloud-Computing Infrastructure (ACCI) provides the scalability and feature set required to manage and deliver the user experience across the desktop and application portfolios. Used in conjunction with other cloud services for desktop and application delivery, the ACCI enables economies of scale through the standardization of the desktop and applications. This allows service providers to achieve scale higher up in the stack, where they can achieve most value. Organizations can provide users with familiar and productive working environments with full personalization, while sourcing completely standardized applications and desktops from both internal and external clouds.

Key Benefits of ACCI
- Seamless migration of users into cloud-delivered desktops
- Transparently spans internal and external clouds
- The ability to standardize cloud-delivered desktops and applications
- Ensure seamless, personal and flexible user experience at all times
- Delivers user personality into any desktop regardless of delivery mechanism
- No need to manage desktops as individual items
- No need to build an in-house infrastructure for user management
- Supports mobile workforce and global offices
The ACCI can be located either within your organization or as part of an external cloud service for the desktop. In the diagram above, Company A has the ACCI as part of their internal infrastructure. Company B uses ACCI as part of a delivered desktop service. Employees receive the same personalized experience regardless of the delivery method.
How the ACCI works
At the heart of the ACCI is our user virtualization technology. This technology, used by thousands of companies globally, decouples and virtualizes the user environment and stores this data centrally. The user environment contains everything specific to a user including; user-based corporate policy, personalization settings, user rights and user-introduced applications. Infrastructure management tools within the ACCI provide personality optimization and the user virtualization engine delivers the personality into standard desktops delivered as part of a cloud service. Enterprise-class reporting and auditing tools provide visibility into the user environment ensuring users have the best working experience regardless of how they access their desktop. The ACCI is able to delivery personality into virtual, physical and streamed desktops and applications – or combinations of those mechanisms – and also can apply personality data across operating system versions (e.g. XP, Vista and Windows 7). For existing desktops, ACCI provides migration capabilities to move employees into dynamically delivered, standard desktops seamlessly.
