Citrix Access Gateway™

Citrix Access Gateway™ is the only SSL VPN to securely deliver any application with policy-based SmartAccess control. Users have easy-to use secure access to the applications and data they need to be productive.

Organizations can cost effectively extend access to datacenter resources from outside the office while maintaining unprecedented control through comprehensive SmartAccess policies. SmartAccess technology allows administrators to control both access and actions based on both the user and the endpoint device. With SmartAccess, administrators are provided ultimate flexibility in developing and implementing corporate security policies.

AppSense Management Suite

AppSense Management Suite is closely integrated to Citrix Access Gateway™ for a robust yet flexible working environment. Since AppSense software is easy to configure, based primarily on a graphical user interface, creating customized rules for granular application access that suits your security and access policies is simplified, reducing setup and maintenance costs.

Extending Citrix Access Gateway™

When a remote user connects to the infrastructure, the host client is scanned and the level of access to be granted is determined. When AppSense software is added, the following new capabilities are possible:

  • Low-level application lockdown based on results of endpoint scans
  • Publish the same application for everyone, but make it more secure by dynamically changing its interface if it is being accessed from an insecure location
  • Dynamic configuration of the Citrix XenApp environment, providing access only to permitted resources depending on custom conditions
  • Prohibiting the changing of files when being accessed from an un-trusted location or a non standard machine

Granular System Protection through AppSense Application Manager™

Unauthorized applications are prevented from executing based on the results of the Citrix SmartAccess™ endpoint analysis. This provides an additional robust layer of protection against potentially malicious attempts at unauthorized application access.

  • Tailor application access based on user location or accessing device
  • Manage application access by user, group, device and using custom rules
  • Ensure company compliance
  • Make full use of packaged endpoint scans, or custom scans

Application Tailoring through AppSense Environment Manager™

Unwanted Operating System or 3rd party application features can be dynamically removed for a user connecting through Citrix Access Gateway, for the purpose of simplifying the end user experience or ensuring potential security loopholes and access to unauthorized data is prevented.

Flexible rules and conditions can be placed on individual actions at a user, group, client computer or server level to provide granular control of environment behaviour dependent on where and how the connection is established.

  • Disable common application features such as Print, Print Screen, Copy, Paste or Save to secure against data theft, dependent on where the user logs on from
  • Prohibit changes to critical application and Operating System component settings such as files, processes, services or registry settings, when accessed from an un-trusted location or non-corporate standard client computer
  • Centralized the management of remote user access policies

Why use AppSense software with Citrix Access Gateway?

IT Administrators are provided with granular control of all connecting end-point devices as well as the server resources the clients are connecting to. Application access can be managed across the enterprise, dependent on the state of the connecting device.

Windows network and device settings can be configured per connection. Unsecure or non-required application or system content can be controlled or removed to prevent misuse of resource. User profile settings can be personalized based on the state of the client connection and how it is established.

This ultimately preserves the integrity of sever and published application content without restricting the functionality required by users. The end result is that administrators can now deliver bespoke desktops or published applications to users dependent on the state of their end-point device and how that device is connecting to the corporate network.
