Charles Sharland: Chairman

Charles Sharland

Chairman

Charles is Chairman and co-founder of AppSense and his broad vision continues to lead the company's culture of technical innovation and product competitiveness. Under his direction, AppSense has grown rapidly into an international company with best in class technology.

Prior to AppSense, Charles founded Vistorm, an information security and infrastructure services provider, growing it from a startup to a $50 million company over ten years. Vistorm was recently acquired by EDS. Before starting Vistorm, he spent 10 years with large technology companies such as HP and Sun Microsystems.

Darron Antill: CEO

As AppSense CEO, Darron is responsible for driving the global growth of the company, expanding the AppSense partner network, driving innovation and market leadership and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. A proven IT executive, Darron brings more than 20 years of technology sales and management experience to his role.

Prior to AppSense, Darron was CEO of leading Information Security Services company Vistorm, where he led the company to record revenues and oversaw the business through its acquisition by EDS and subsequent transition to HP. During his seven years at Vistorm (now HP Information Security), Darron was responsible for sales and services business, building strategic vendor relationships and developing strong channel alliances.

Prior to Vistorm, Darron was managing director of Ultima Business Solutions, a security services company, where he led the company to two consecutive record revenue years and achieved 20 percent growth year over year.

Harry Labana: CTO

Harry Labana

VP & CTO

As AppSense vice president and CTO, Harry works with senior members of the technical team to form the company’s strategic technical direction, and leads the product management team to execute upon this strategy to deliver the final product. By engaging with customers, partners and analysts, Harry is redefining user virtualization for the industry as a strategic IT layer that drives people-centric computing. 

A recognized expert in desktop virtualization, Harry joined AppSense from Citrix, where he was vice president and CTO of the Citrix Desktop Division. During his tenure, this group expanded from a single-product focus to a devoted technology division that grew beyond a billion dollars to become the market leader. In this role, he was responsible for driving and evangelizing the company’s overall technology direction and product strategy to management teams, customers and partners.

Prior to Citrix, he led Global Engineering and Architecture for desktop and application virtualization at Goldman Sachs, where he also advised clients, research analysts and internal bankers on trends and investment opportunities.

Harry holds a bachelor’s degree in electronic systems engineering with honors from the University of Manchester and completed Finance for Senior Executives at Harvard Business School.
John Rego: CFO

John Rego

CFO

As AppSense CFO, John is responsible for managing an array of internal financial activities as well as overseeing legal, investor relations and human resources. John brings over 28 years of finance and management experience to his role.

Prior to AppSense, John served as Chief Financial Officer of Petra Solar, Inc. a NJ based solar and smart grid company where he oversaw all financial activities of the company.

Prior to Petra Solar, John was CFO and Treasurer of Vonage Holdings Corporation where he built the finance organization and helped lead the Company through several years of exponential growth as well as multiple rounds of financing.

John started his career at KPMG and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Jon Furber: Finance Director

As AppSense Finance Director, Jon is responsible for all aspects of the company’s finance organisation, including accounting and reporting, financial planning, internal controls, treasury and tax. With the overall finance organisation objective, of supporting the business in pursuit of its strategic aims and business objectives whilst ensuring the Company operates within a strong control environment.

Prior to AppSense, Jon was CFO of leading Information Security Services company, HP Information Security, where as a key member of the Operations Board he was part of the team that led the Company, post acquisition by EDS/ HP through a period of significant growth, and led the financial integration into the HP Corporate organisation.

Jon started his career at KPMG where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

Peter Rawlinson: CMO

Peter Rawlinson

CMO

Peter is responsible for AppSense's global marketing activities and driving the strategic direction of the business. He works closely with key customers and partners of AppSense to ensure a customer-centric approach throughout the business. Peter spent 6 years as VP marketing for AppSense and has been instrumental in establishing the user virtualization market and positioning AppSense as the leading vendor in the space.

Peter has extensive experience in the IT sector having held senior-level positions in both the UK and the US. He co-founded electronic commerce company Intelisys, where he created and managed a global marketing and product management team responsible for a $200 million product line, developing strategic alliances with Microsoft, Citrix, IBM, Motorola and JPMorgan Chase among others. With over 15 years of software marketing experience, Peter has successfully managed and marketed enterprise software solutions including OpenText and iMany.

Peter holds a BSc with honors in physics from Sheffield University

David Roussain: Vice President of Business Development

David Roussain

Vice President of Business Development

David is a proven technology marketing executive with over 25 years of experience in high-growth markets at both startup and Fortune 500 companies including Citrix, Federal Express and HP. At AppSense, David is responsible for enhancing the company's strategic partnerships worldwide and developing new partnerships with key desktop platform providers.

Prior to joining AppSense, David served as group vice president at Citrix Systems where he oversaw marketing for Citrix's application and server virtualization products, including XenApp, Citrix's $1B flagship product line, and later XenServer. In addition, David was instrumental in expanding Citrix's relationship with Microsoft across both presentation virtualization and desktop virtualization technologies and solutions.

Nick Lowe: Vice President and General Manager, EMEA

Vice President and General Manager, EMEA

Nick’s oversees all sales, services, and strategic alliances within the EMEA region, as well driving additional business in new EMEA territories.

Nick has over twenty years of experience in software & technology sales and sales management. Previously heading up Check Point’s largest region (Western Europe), he led many strategic projects influencing the direction of the business and out-growing the rest of the company.

Previously Nick has also held senior positions in sales management at Sun Microsystems and Nortel where he was part of the acquisition of Bay Networks. He studied for an MA in Computer Science at Queen’s College Cambridge and holds a BSc in Electronic Engineering from the University of Portsmouth.

Keith Turnbull: Vice President of Global Development

Keith Turnbull

Vice President of Global Development

Keith is responsible for driving AppSense's global development strategy and continuing to build its world-class development team. Responsible for all development platforms including Windows and mobile devices and with development teams spanning Europe and US, Keith works with Product Management to ensure the right products for the AppSense customer base.

A 30-year veteran of the software industry, Keith spent the last 13 years in executive development and engineering roles at Citrix, joining the company through the acquisition of Insignia Solutions, an x86 emulation company. During his time at Citrix, he successfully grew existing development teams as well as setting up sizeable new product teams from scratch and taking on new sites through multiple acquisitions. Keith has led teams of up to 500 developers and was responsible for many of the core product teams that achieved great success in their lifecycle; most notably scaling up Citrix XenApp to a strategic $1 billion plus product and delivering the first versions of XenDesktop.

Michael Nicosia: Vice President of Sales, US

Michael brings more than 20 year of sales experience to his new role as Vice President of North America Sales for AppSense. He comes to AppSense from Citrix Systems, Inc. where he was part of the leadership team for the Citrix Online Division (COL). At COL, his responsibility was to build and grow the field sales organization which was targeted to sell within the enterprise space. There he doubled the field sales personnel and revenue during his two year tenure. He was also instrumental in creating a new sales process/methodology that created the path to success selling to Fortune 1000 companies.

Prior to COL, Michael was the President of Barry Rhein & Associates, a sales consulting and training company targeting Fortune 1000 companies. As President of worldwide sales and operations, he grew sales from zero to over $7 million in one year, while reducing overall sales costs and improving operational efficiencies.

Katy Clough: Director, Human Resources

Director, Human Resources

As AppSense HR Director, Katy is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of the organization-wide business plan and objectives through our Global network of people. She works closely with the management team to ensure that we continue our growth through attracting world class people to AppSense and continuing to enhance their development within our unique culture.

Prior to joining AppSense, Katy spent over ten years in board level HR positions in Assura Group, Bupa and Thomas Cook.

She has 20 years experience of working in HR in diverse industries including Retail, Financial Services, Health and Travel.

Patrick Jolly

Corporate Development Officer

As CDO, Patrick oversees our M&A Strategy and program and also actively works with our finance and legal team on regulatory and strategic matters.

Patrick has a professional advisory background but has also spent considerable time in senior positions within international businesses. He has been a senior corporate finance partner at a major law firm, President of EMEA and APAC for a successful high growth international software business and CEO of a £550m revenue public company. He has been involved in a large number of transactions in many different jurisdictions and has significant experience of public equity markets.

Mark Lawrence: Director of Operations

As Director of Operations Mark is responsible for ensuring that AppSense’s systems and processes are optimised to deliver world class services to customers and partners.

Mark is a highly experienced operations manager with extensive experience of leading and managing people, processes and systems through transformation. In his role he has managed the operational interfaces between support, managed services and professional services functions ensuring the continuity and integrity of operational plans and their alignment to strategic business goals.

Prior to joining AppSense, Mark spent over 10 years at Vistorm. During his time at Vistorm Mark held a number of senior positions in the company ranging from Business Operations Manager to Head of Service Delivery. In May 2006 he was promoted to the Vistorm Operations Board as Operations Director and played a crucial role in leading the integration of Vistorm into HP.

Matt Knutsen : Area Vice President, Americas East and Federal

Matt Knutsen

Area Vice President, Americas East and Federal

Matt Knutsen leads the AppSense sales and technical organization within the East Americas and Federal regions, which works with companies to highlight how they can use user-virtualization technologies to achieve significant cost-savings. Since joining AppSense in May 2005, Matt has led a number of functions within North America including sales, channel organization, sales strategy and operations. Matt has also been instrumental in creating innovative routes to market and has played a significant role in the company's expansion from a start-up role in the Americas to a mature multimillion-dollar powerhouse. He was named Area Vice President of the East Americas and Federal regions in 2011 and leads the team responsible for driving the company’s revenue in the territory.

Prior to joining AppSense, Matt spent 7 years in enterprise sales roles with Compuware and other leading software companies.Matt earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Michigan State University.

Paul Higley: Area Vice President, Northern Europe

Paul Higley

Area Vice President, Northern Europe

Paul is responsible for all sales and operational activities for AppSense in the Northern Europe region, overseeing a team of commercial, technical and marketing resources throughout the territory.

Paul joined AppSense in December 2003, and during his tenure Paul has held responsibility for AppSense UK & Ireland Channel and Major Accounts in UK& Ireland – significantly increasing revenue and building strong relationships with Channel and Technology Partners in the region. Paul has amassed an impressive track record over the past 15 years with direct focus in the IT Industry, managing the development of enterprise level solutions and focusing particularly on user experience.

Stefan Hoelzl: Vice President of Central Europe

As VP of Central Europe, Stefan’s goals are to communicate to the local market the benefits of user virtualization and grow revenue in the region with a focus on the largest 500 companies. Stefan is also focused on expanding the current AppSense partner ecosystem in central Europe to help customers on their way to device independence.

Prior to joining AppSense, Stefan spent four years with Parallels as vice-president and general manager EMEA, helping the company achieve a market-leading position in desktop virtualization. He also spent 11 years at Symantec, where he worked across a broad range of sales, marketing and management roles.

Michael Bosnar: Managing Director Australia & New Zealand

Michael Bosnar

Managing Director, Australia & New Zealand

Michael is responsible for revenue growth and profitability of the ANZ region, creating a platform for growth into Asia. His focus is on building a strong team that will provide consistent performance in the region, while aligning ANZ to the EMEA business model. Large deals and building strong Alliances and Partnerships are a priority, while ensuring customers are customers for life.

Prior to this role, Michael held senior management roles at global software vendors such as Computer Associates, Sybase and SAP. Over the past 20 years, Michael has worked for both vendors and major channel organisations, providing him with a diverse background and understanding of the IT industry. Michael’s primary strength is around sales management at senior levels and his formal qualifications include an MBA at Insead, Fellow member of the Australian institute of company directors, Diploma for the Directors to support his BA.
